History of Jacquie Lawson Cards

In the year 2000, Jacquie Lawson, an English artist who lived in the charming village of Lurgashall in Southern England, created an animated Christmas card featuring her dog and cats and her 15th-century cottage and sent it to some friends for their entertainment. Those friends sent the e-card to others, and then after several weeks, Jacquie was flooded with requests from across the world to design more. In February 2002, Jacquie joined with its family members and few friends to establish jacquielawson.com.

Over the years, the number has increased to more than 400 e-cards, each showing a unique degree of attention to detail and artistry seen in animated cards. Even the music is written and arranged specially for each one! The website also offers a range of birthday cards, thank you e-cards, Christmas e-cards, and many others, featuring cats, dogs, teddy bears, flowers, and many other subjects. A yearly membership fee offers customers access to the entire range of online greeting cards and allows them to send as many greetings as they like. It is also possible to get an additional discount by joining for two years!

Behind the Scenes of Jacquie Lawson Cards

Each card takes about a few weeks to several months to make. A lot of the animation elements are painted by hand (using brushes, paint, and paper!) since the textures and colours achieved that way is significantly more attractive than the electronic equivalent. These paintings are then scanned into electronic form, and the laborious process of animation begins. Finally, the music is created to accent or complement the spirit.

How to book Jacquie Lawson Cards?

To schedule a card to be sent on a future date (for instance, for a birthday), customers should first log on to the site and select a card to send as usual. Then they should press select the caption, if applicable, and enter their message. Then write the name and email address of the recipient.

After completing the recipient's details, the next step is to click on "Send a card on this date" and choose the date required.

After picking the required card and entering the preferred message, tap "Email" to send the card by email, and enter the name and email addresses of the recipient(s). The last step is to enter the required delivery date and tap "Send ecard."

As most people send cards to recipients within their own country/timezone, the card is automatically mailed early in the morning in your country's time. In case a country has more than one time zone, the westernmost time zone is used. For instance, all cards sent by members from the USA will be sent at around 1:00 a.m. Pacific Time on the selected date. That's the same as 4:00 a.m. Eastern Time. If the website did it the other way around, then some cards would be sent too early on the previous day's evening!

Customers should consider that there may also be variations in the time sent owing to Daylight Savings Time, and on busy holidays such as Valentine's Day, it can take some time to send all the cards, so they won't all be delivered at exactly 1:00 a.m.
